Lovely Senior Shepherd Needs Rescue or Adoption at Harbor Shelter
Mama Mia! Mama is a lovely Super Senior, an elegant beauty who was on a “possible owner” hold – obviously they never came. Mama has a very old impound number, she was adopted from the shelter when she was much younger. Mama is very sweet and gentle. She lived in a home that once had 18 (yes 18) other dogs, so she may be dog friendly. Mama walks nicely on leash, and love yummy treats. Please consider rescuing or adopting Mama!
All animals are spayed or neutered prior to release. The adoption fees include preventative vaccines, parasite treatments, microchip implant (for permanent internal ID) with pre-paid registration and a free initial wellness exam by a veterinarian of your choice.

Top Ten Reasons Everyone Needs a Chihuahua
A new Top Ten list is posted every Monday.
- On the average Chi's live a long, long, long time.
- Chihuahuas are one of the most euthanized breeds in shelters.
- You can sneak them into almost any kind of establishment.
- A Chi's wardrobe options are limitless – can you imagine a rottie in a pink dress? I think not.
- Teeny dog = teeny poop.
- Chi's come in an endless variety of colors, shapes and sizes – you're sure to find one you love.
- Perpetual lap warmers, Chi's make great companions and are affectionate and loving.
- If you are a guy with a Chi, you will exude masculine security. Chicks dig that.
- They’re versatile - they can ride in bicycle baskets, handbags and carry-ons.
- Thanks to Paris Hilton and Beverly Hills Chihuahua I & II, they have been overbred like crazy. They need you - please adopt or rescue a Chihuahua today!

Top Ten Reasons Everyone Should Have At Least One Cat
A new Top Ten list is posted every Monday.
- You need someone responsible to take charge of your life.
- An empty lap is a cold, lonely lap.
- The top of your television looks bare.
- Everyone should have a pet that silently stares at them for no reason.
- You bought a lot of lint brushes at Costco and you're anxious to use them.
- You have stairs and want someone to play "trip me if you can" with you.
- Cats won't besiege you when you come home from work; wanting walks, playtime, treats, etc. (indeed, they won't even acknowledge that you came through the door).
- You enjoy watching animals run full-speed from one room to the next for no reason.
- ... waking to the sweet sound of contented purring in your ear.
- The shelters and rescues have an abundance of beautiful, loving cats that need homes. Adopt a cat, save a life!

Top Ten Reasons Cats Don't "Do" Water
A new Top Ten list is posted every Monday.
1) They're cats, they don't "do" anything
2) There's no way a cat is going to dog-paddle
3) They know what they look like wet
4) There are no cool dive & fetch contests for cats, so why
bother
5) They [usually] don't weigh enough for an effective cannonball
6) Cats can't chase balls or sticks in the ocean – (they'd wash
away)
7) They think they should walk on water, not splash around in it
8) The myth of the dreaded "cat fish" (would you swim if there
was a "human fish"?
9) Umm, things look 25% larger underwater, dogs swim – can
you say “Jaws with fur”?
10) Actually, they do, they just don't want you to know….

Adopt: Take a Chance and Learn to Dance
People often come to the shelter where I volunteer looking for a specific dog - a dog like the one they grew up with, a dog exactly like their beloved companion that recently passed away.
Sometimes they make a connection with a dog, perhaps only eye contact through the kennel door, but the dog is not what they are looking for. They leave the dog behind. Wrong color, wrong size, wrong age.
Stop it. The dogs in shelter need homes, and you need a companion. Take a chance. If you lost a sweet and mellow Golden Retriever, try a little black Chihuahua or a scruffy mutt. Now and then one of the small dogs will stand on its hind legs and do a little dance. Either begging for food, or begging for attention, does it really matter? Some of the overlooked shelter dogs can dance, and you can too.
Adopt a Shelter Dog.
And Dance.
